Black UF Twitter was on and poppin' yesterday, for probably the first and last time this
semester. A guy on Twitter had his mentions blow up after he dropped a comment
that might have been insulting to some NPHC organizations. And you know them
ninjas can be sensitive. UF Black Twitter was a movie, and we had the popcorn
ready.
It all started when some old Alpha was either bored or had
just returned from an uneventful Gainesville where he got no play, and
proceeded to comment about how UF just wasn't the same anymore, as it was
"Back In My Days". We've heard this one before. Here we go again.
It really wouldn't have been a big deal, as everyone is always
quick to say Gainesville sucks as soon as they graduate after their 5-6 year
career here, but where buddy really fucked up was the second part of his
message. Homeboy went on to say that besides only two sororities, the AKAs and
the Deltas (Probably his two favorite), everybody else just wanted to throw
parties and do nothing. Oh Shit. You can't just name two of the sororities in
the council as good and decent, when there are only 4 sororities total. That
leaves things wide open to interpretation. What you trying to say?
As sororities are never one to take any insults, directly,
perceived or otherwise subtweeted, well at all, Black Greek Twitter exploded,
and all those other "party organizations", but namely the Zetas, came out of
the woodwork enraged. The movie was on! The Deltas didn't really care because
most of them were celebrating some kind of anniversary and the AKAs were
chilling because they had already been praised.
It's Zeta Week anyway so the timing couldn't have been
worse. The Zetas are out doing shit during their week and buddy BASICALLY said
the Zetas weren't doing shit, sort of. Ooops.
We missed the whole damn thing writing that long ass post
about how Khia was half naked violating our school colors, draping them over a body that
passed its prime a few hundred years ago.
We basically came to the movie theater when the credits were already
running.
The Zetas, most of the older ones, came out, mouths foaming,
and that "Greek Unity" stuff the NPHC talks about was quickly
incinerated in about 2 tweets. There were some hilarious insults thrown,
relating back to the guilty Alpha's time at school when apparently the only
thing he showed up to was his own organizations parties, and how "You
don't want this work!" & "Don't talk about a council you're not even a part of!" Bang Bang!
The Sigmas quickly jumped in, because you know they got that
whole Blue Brady Bunch type deal going on, and came to keep the show going. And
you know the Sigmas don't care about anything in life, so they were letting the
ratchet tweets fly. "Blue & White Weekend donates tons of money to charity,
so kindly shut your broke ass up", was probably the best one.
The audience was growing, and we finally threw some tweets
out there, maybe to instigate some shit for the lulz, maybe not. But as our
best friend said, this was probably the most action UF Black Twitter would see
all semester, so we had to let it ride. Then various other old Greeks we never knew came on Twitter and started talking about how the old Alphas were so
great "Back in my day..."., and this new Alpha was acting up, and don't talk about my organization...blah, blah, blah. This was like near the middle of the day.
Don't yall niggas have jobs?
Finally, every other organization went on to pub their
upcoming community service events all over Twitter, which might have been
homeboy's plan all along. Nobody knows.
The most baffling, and probably hilarious thing is that
homeboy said everybody is throwing parties all the time. Really, nigga?
Where!?! He was obviously out of touch. We're in a drought right now. But who
really cares? Most of these organizations don't promote their community
services events on Twitter because they aren't dependent on attendance like
parties are. They just do them. Regular people don't go to those community
services events anyway. Not unless we are trying to join said organization :).
We're supposed to spend our Saturday off
school and work to go read to some illiterate underprivileged children on the
bad side of Gainesville? Nah, not unless we get in the newspaper. Let the
Greeks do it, that's what they are supposedly founded upon anyway, at least that's what they tell us right before
they say "Do Your Homework".
The sorority buddy left out, the Zetas probably do throw the
best parties out of all the sororities, but aint nobody complaining about that.
Come Saturday at that pool party, watch how many ninjas be out there looking
parched as fuck waiting to see some blue bikinis. We'll be right there with
them. If the NPHC organizations are not doing what they are supposed to be
doing, shouldn't they be discussing that in NPHC meetings? Just let UF Black
Twitter be the safe haven where we can all ridicule LL Cool J and Ray J on
their terrible song creations.
