With the start of Summer B, now is the time to look back at the semester that was. Before we move on, let’s look back at the happenings of Summer A. If you weren’t here, Summer A was Summer B. Summer A is usually that time when you attempt to recover your GPA from the debauchery of the Spring Semester. There is nobody on campus, so you're free to focus and stay productive. Maybe. But nobody ever really leaves Gainesville, they just say they do. So of course The Black Community was in full force and disturbing the public. If Summer A was any indication of the strength of The Black Community, then Summer B should be historic. Somebody might die. After the jump are some things that made Summer A memorable.
The Rise of The House Party – The house party is back. Instead of going to Status EVERY SINGLE FRIDAY, members of The Black Community opened up their 4/4 apartments for 100+ people to fit in. Nothing beats sweaty faded dancing downtown with Gainesville locals than sweaty faded dancing crammed within 200 square feet. And why pay for those professional DJ groups when you can have some ninja click songs in iTunes for free? And with the free alcohol and poor lighting, you can get loose without anyone judging you. And thank God for that.
The Weekday Fade – Summer A classes are really just a collection of classes that nobody cares about, but needs for that clutch GPA boost. I’m looking at you, COM 1000. With all that free time, The Fade lures in unsuspecting individuals. The Black Community was getting faded everywhere and at anytime. There was the invasion of Techno Tuesdays (sorry white people….), Cantina Fridays, a.k.a “The Black Community Community Center”, Grog Wednesdays, and Penny Thursdays. We almost have a full weekly calendar of fade. And props to keeping the locations diverse. White people didn't know where all these black people were hiding. Watch out white people, we coming for your hood. We taking Plaza of the Americas next. Hippies.
Status Fridays - Even though we were there EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND, Status Fridays were "That Move" for the entirety of Summer A. Gainesville Locals aside. Elite really pulled out the tricks each week to make partying in that hotbox thoroughly entertaining. Need we remind you of that End of The World Jam? White girls were really stripping in front of 500 drunk black men. Those are some brave women, they deserve the Medal of Honor. Not to mention ninjas were taking body shots off those girls (We hope they showered first...). Elite even had a "Short Bus" painted black and had some interior decorating installed so ninjas with some leftover financial aid could feel special as they pull up to the club. When that recap video came out the next day, relationships were ended and jobs were lost. The Elite Group are geniuses. Whatever they have planned for Summer B is bound to break some Gainesville City ordnance. But it's sure to make the club that much more enjoyable, and props to Elite for that.
